Dolph
Recently I had put the cap on a bunch of products of my NorDesign company. They were a great success, and I wanted to thank my Marketing group who gave me super feedback and great opinions! So some of them wanted sketch commissions of their characters. I was happy to oblige!
A happy Woodwind flapping about a great distance from the ground!
I took a couple of liberties when designing the character from it's fursuit counterpart. Since I was drawing a lot of these characters out in a "Western Toony" style, I kept to some basics in the design- like limiting the number of toes [usually for the bird-like characters] and the "eye patches" [as opposed to the "streaks" on the suit].
Hope you like Dolph! And hope you don't mind the minor changes in the name of artistic license.

Squeee! It looks great, I love it! And he looks all super cute!
And I don't mind the changes, he looks kinda cuter with those toes, which is how I've noticed most animators draw them. But kudos for not drawing a secondary 'middle' wing spar like a lot of others tend to when drawing pterosaurs. Just ask Exdraghunt, that drives her nuts. :)

Yah, it IS an animator thing- I guess because we reference a lot of the bones/and or modern birds, that the winged Dinos get these the same. As for the "middle" wing spar, that was a direct result from "Gargoyles" way back in the day. A gorgeous design gimmick for the gargoyles themselves, but then misplaced by fans onto other winged creatures. The moment you told me the species, I went and did my research. XD
It's a small company dedicated to the preservation and perpetuation of Cultures who are in danger of, or have been annihilated due to a number of reasons [Primarily assimilation]. The members [a small team currently] are scholars and specialists that devoted a lot of their free time [or their main occupation] to studying, preserving, and perpetuating Ancient culture, First Nations cultures, and/or Anthropological sources.
Our main goal is to create lines of products that are based on fact- not romanticized fiction- to help raise awareness of the cultures in plight, the current plight of existing cultures, and erase pre-concevied mass media falsehood in regard to cultures who were misrepresented.
The current marketing group was helping to advise on a line called "NorDesign"- a specific off shot line dedicated to the Oral Traditions, Poetic and Prose Edda of the Scandinavians [pre-Christian intervention]. The line is so successful that currently I'm in negotiation with Roskiled Museum in Denmark to get the products in their shop.
