2006 Self Portrait
Yet another of my yearly self portraits. People look at this and tell me that it predicted Gen's change from cat to fox in the face.
The theme for this one was along the lines of having to work and plan and travel and dig and hope you get that you worked so hard for in the end. I'd come very close to losing the muck I run because the person that owned the domain wanted us to fail. And I learned that many problems could only be dealt with by throwing money at them. I felt like I was on a journey and I hadn't finished it yet, thus the compass shirt and the maplike background.
Marker, colored pencil, turpentine.

It's also a symbol of hard with with the promise, but not a guarantee, of a payoff. That's why it's this big huge rock, with a teeny little vein of gold in it. The fact that she's holding a muddy shovel is supposed to make it seem as though she'd been digging for awhile.
