He's still a rather complicated design. Easier to draw? I guess that's up to interpretation. To me, older Snarf looked like an old man. I haven't seen the original series yet, so I'm not sure if that was intentional. New Snarf just looks cuter (imo) and doesn't speak, which I and many others consider to be a plus. XD
In any sense, I think American cartoons are starting to take a turn for the best. :T
