i'm not the person who originally reply to you but since this is an interesting conversation:
how exactly has mankind lost to death to begin with? even if we all are in a battle that we're bound to lose against. we still live. the days, weeks, months, even years that passed before us without death ever taking our lives, is the very Battle mankind has the right to claim a victory. i seen kids die; and other live, some even as weak or given unfair advantage, yet they still go on. and even when we die; the last i check the very score would be Death having a single kill/point on us as we have so much more. simply based off of how long we evaded death even as an infant.
and the darkness? please, there are as many days as there are night; neither winning; only swaying. and even if the day doesn't shine the most; i still got it beat.
and you sir; are easy to figure out as the cell in my mind.

Ah...
But here lies why you can never win...
You think you evade Death just by living another day.
However...you are losing every day.
Your body wears and withers with each passing moment.
Your very cells die in multitudes, replaced by new ones, and then die again.
Of course, you do win occasionally, hoping to win the very last one.
But of course, it is a fool's hope.
And then, as you lose your final battle, and your eyes begin to close, the Darkness envelops you...the light blotted out forever.
But here lies why you can never win...
You think you evade Death just by living another day.
