Little Neko sketch progress.
Quick sketch for fun! I thought I should show my sketch process.
1. Quick gesture sketch. It's just to kind of get an idea on pose.
2. Nude sketch
3. Clothes, hair and other details added
4. I like to add a thicker outline to my drawings, but don't always.
Course, my sketch style/progress constantly changes and it does depend if I'm doing a sketch to leave it at that or doing a WIP sketch for a commission/finished picture.
When I do a sketch and that's all it's going to be, I put way more detail in it and keeps things correct-ish. When I do a WIP sketch for a com or other picture, I do a super rough sketch that does not have very much detail in it, so It's all going to be inked in.

You really shouldn't. NOT drawing the nude first is the most likely way to get an awkward body. Of course, it all depends on the artist and specific styles (heavily stylized) don't really need a nude first. But just normal drawing, ya, draw the nude lol
I remember when I was younger, I'd just draw the skirt and legs under. And that is how you get broken looking legs or "miss no crotch" lol

I had that problem for a real long time. I've finally been able to get flowing hair which is awesome. Eye size isn't always a bad thing. Look at disney. Well, depends on the movie, each one is made different. Tangled had huge eyes.
You don't really need art classes, but everyone is different. Some people work better learning on they're own. I'm not perfect by any means, not yet, but I never took classes.

Yea, I'm getting much better with the hair. I am just having a hard time making my characters not look stiff. It's like, I draw on autopilot anymore. I don't have the joy and creativity I had when I was younger and that bothers me.
I know, but I'm sure art classes could have helped. I don't really know how to 'see' stuff the way artists do, and it makes it difficult to teach myself.
