A friend of mine in Australia, Den, is a WIRES volunteer who often gets rescues for bats. He takes them in, makes an assessment and determines if they can be saved, should be put down, or might benefit from a vet. He's had some spectacular successes, but also some painful failures.
Anyway, here's one of his videos, feeding a Gould's Wattled Bat: http://youtu.be/w6VlR0b5q4Y
What you can't see or feel, as he puts it in his journal, are the bones of his head vibrating as this tiny creature blasts him with 110dB of ultrasonics. You can catch some of it in the video, but it really doesn't translate.
He seems to rescue a lot of noisy critters!
You can find him, his critters and beer reviews on his LiveJournal. (battyden.livejournal.com)
