Christmas time is upon us yet again, and what better way to pack on the pounds then by wolfing down some delicious butter cookies! (Makes about 2 dozen)
What You'll Need:
-3/4 Cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, softened
-1/4 Cup each of granulated sugar and packed light brown sugar
-1 egg yolk
-1 3/4 Cups all-purpose flour
-1 teaspoon baking powder
-1/8 teaspoon salt
-box of powdered sugar
-rolling pin
-frosting
-medium mixing bowl
-whisk
-cookie sheet
-cookie cutters
-aluminum foil or wax paper
Steps:
- Combine flour, both sugars, and egg yolk in medium bowl. After whisked real good, then add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Cover by wrapping in either wax paper or aluminum foil. Refrigerate until firm, about 4 hours or over night.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare cookie dough by rolling onto flat surface covered in the powdered sugar. (Most people use flour, but for cookies, powdered sugar is much better). Cut out cookies using cookie cutters. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 9 to 12 minutes or until edges begin to brown.
- When cookies have cooled, slather in frosting and decorations and there ya go!
