So, the Flecktones (surprise, surprise) have a song entitled "Jekyll and Hyde (and Ted and Alice)", in which there are four distinct motifs that clash and weave which each other, hence the names. I wanted to write something with a similar idea in mind, and this was born. For mine, I couldn't think of anything else fun for the title with the same themes, so I went with more Abstract contrasts - Light and Dark and Heat and Cold. Each of the motifs, I decided, should have a solo instrument associated with them, just to make things more fun.

So, here's it -
Light - 12-hole Alto Ocarina. Because I can and it's a beautiful instrument.
Dark - Euphonium.
Heat - Soprano Saxophone. Original was going to be a Harmonica, but it didn't blend well enough with the other instruments to work well.
Cold - Bass Clarinet.

This little snippet is what I have so far of the "Light" motif (bad pun), which starts of with the Ocarina, echoed by the Euphonium (in relative minor), and then joined by the rest of the woodwinds.
