If Gudrun is the controller, this is the fellah that Gudrun is controlling.
Æsben is my impulse.
This is the figure that reflects part of my instincts: My apathy to anything not of my interest, my general distrust of men [no offense dudes! I don't hate you guys or anything, just a long line of unfortunate men-related events. I don't judge ahead of time, I get to know you guys -honest], my one-track-mind [simple] goal-oriented thinking, my cause-and-effect rational, my distaste with things that are contemporary as opposed to traditional and ancient.
Æsben is a cultivation of years of trial, trial and error, and curbing of behaviors both successful and unsuccessful. In part the reason of my hermit like social attitude, easily offended if specific topics are discussed or attacked, it's the side that blows off into a tantrum and quickly subdues- but the memory of things are long and can hold a grudge.
On the flip side, the immense smothering love, and the part of the brainless devotion is also as a result of him. A dependable, non waiving pillar... and a quick hook to those that cross any line of social moral. It is a side that enjoys to put people in their places. He's also the reason [and enjoys] I do carpentry and woodworks. Also superstitious.
There isn't much to elaborate on Æsben as he is just what he is- simple and strait forward. No fancy manipulations, and nothing too complex. Resourceful and also very introspective- but fundamentally an impulse.
Æsben is male, and the mate to Gudrun.
Æsben also believes that Gudrun's spots are magical- and that each posses a specific capability. He is particularly fond of the one on the left-hand but-cheek. God only knows.
Æsben is the second "main character" to appear in my graphic novel "Jötunn", which hopefully will be out later this year.
Just a head's up- I re-uploaded "Gudrun" www.furaffinity.net/view/7115953 with a little more of a polished look to it [like this one]. I admit to being a little hurt that Gudrun went dominantly ignored, but I also realize that the human-face appeal is low in this fandom. A pity because Gudrun has so many lovable qualities.
There is also a size ref between Gudrun [1.5meter = 5'1] and Æsben [2.51meter- 8'3].

For some reason, I missed seeing Gudrun put up in my pile of submission notes :'| For a design I think would be creepy, you made it really endearing and I can instantly connect with it. I can't articulate how I feel about Gudrun, because it's sorta a 'whoa' moment for me, so i'll make the immature statement of haha they look like meeee.

I remember seeing your earlier sketches of him last year and BOOM WOW PERFECT from what aspects you were pulling together at the time that I remember. LOVE it.

For starters, everyone telling me Gudrun is creepy... I LOVE IT. Because he is SUPPOSED to have a very off-putting image about wii. While cryptic, that becomes clearer as to WHY within the Graphic Novel.
Ultimatly, about pegging Æsben and Gudrun- I am just blown away with YESSSSSS! Not only do I let the characters develop on their own, but I think I had an "easier" time simply because I'm channeling a lot of my personal attributes. So it's more a matter of being honest with MYSELF, and designing somehting to fit the physical representation.
I also have to point out that I think the reason you find such a complex attraction to Gudrun is that what wii is reflecting as a character, is something you are growing into now. That is, finding your own "Controler" with your self-discoveries... so it's somehting you can relate and reflect upon as you are coming into it as a life stage. XD

So they seem to have kind of a yin-yang relationship, the base impulses, raw feelings and desires, and the higher emotions and keeping them in balance. (If I'm interpreting it right) And, being mates with Gudrun, kind of shows how they must both be together in order to be whole and complete.
In addition to that, it is an amazing pic. I like the style and coloration you chose for him, plus the bottom left picture is pretty badass. Great job, my friend.

Thanks for pointing out the style- because it's a Scandinavian setting, I tried to integrate the Scandinavian medieval style with a contemporary animated design.

I have to admit, the use of large geometry comes from the stylized background of Ethnic design. Since every Graphic Novel of mine is set in a different Ethnic background, their fundamental designs base on the same parameters- and so it's wildly adapted in my own art style [if you didn't notice, I tend to do a lot of Ethnic stuff. ]

There's a book you may be interested in reading, called "the bear" and in it they talk about the change the symbol of the bear went through as a result of christianity. I bring this up because some of the symbolic characteristics of Aesben are talked about in the book as both an amoral trait (for example, beneficial in certain cultures/societies) and as traits that were seemingly immoral but only by certain standards.
