Okay, so...I liked that last pile of sketches so much that I decided to color them. So here she is, Cougari as a Chipette!
What's neat is I used some model sheets I found, and I managed to get a true color model with the Pantone Color numbers on it and used it in selecting the colors for my dear Cougari here. For the Chipmunk adventure it looks like notes on it indicate that all the lineart is brown except for their eyes, which are lined black. I deviated for things like the nose and lips and the eyes, but overall I tried to stay somewhat true. I added a little blush to her cheeks as well!
I loved the old Bagdasarian Logo, so I added it from a scan of one of my Theodore Model Sheets, and fixed it up enough so that I could place it on the sheet with my signature beside it :)

I've been forever looking for cels of the chipettes and a few specific scenes, but they are so hard to come by.
Thank you for this information! I totally love the little nuggets of animation culture that's in this fandom. If you have any more stories or anything you could tell me about the movie I'd love to hear it!

Before I was working in animation, I inked and painted about 7 cels from the movie from scene blowups directly from a 35mm print, all Chipette scenes. I used them as portfolio pieces (unfortunately not very well inked/painted ones) to try and get a job in ink and paint. But the studios gave me a chance and worked for nearly 20 years in the business. I went on to work with animators who worked directly on the film, but they never really delved into what it was like to work on the project. I did hear they ran out of time doing all the intricate shading (Alvin on the bed scene in the beginning) and the Chipettes skin diving. It did look like the characters would have been a blast to draw.

The finished work to this is really out

It just speaks "PROFESSIONAL WORK"
as loud as it can get!
The character looks sweet and sassy like
a Georgia peach, and if I'm right, she's as
snappy as a firecracker when gets hot under
the collar!
The hair is also what makes her stand out
from the other Chipettes.
This is truly unique... in a terrific way.
