Pew from The legends of treasure island
A tribute to the most creepy villain from an animated show I ever saw: Pew from The legends of treasure island.
The TV show created by Filmair and was loosely based from Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. The show was kind of creepy for a children show; it followed loosely the mainplot of the book but with adding lots of actually horror stuff.
The protagonists often found themselves fighting against any kind of supernatural foes going from "simple" monsters to real force of darkness, like demons, devils, damned souls,.....
The most scary antagonist was inded Pew; he was shoen as an athropomorphic rat who apperead to be deformed in some way and he was alwayas wearing a red robe and a walking stick (wich he used as a sort of magic staff casting lighting from it's top). His eyes always showed a yellow spooky glowing. I
n the beggining he apperead to be a simple pirate with the desire of finding Flint's treasure but as the story went on he was showed to be more like of an evil sorcerer, conjuring evil spells and creating monsters to fight the protagonist.
He was show to be without pity and mercy and in the end he actually KILLED one of the protagonist: gosh, i remember it so well, I was 10 I think and I couldn't believe that one of the protagonist I get to like was really gone.
Also in the end his true nature and goals became even more and more obscure: he revealed to have no interest for jewel or gold of the trreasure (he actually defined them "mortal baubles£") and his real interest was a particular artifact present in the treasure.
Once he was able to grab the artifact he semeed to become invulnerable to anything; in the end he was apparently defeated but even his disappeareance was obscure: his body vanished in a cloud of green smoke while his clothes remained intact. So in the end you were actually wondering if he was really gone.
