I actually kind of get the feeling that's part of their comedic pacing. I think they like to throw speedbumps and non-sequiters in just to disrupt the rhythm.

I dont mind the pop culture refferences, but they often tell you at the end what the refference- such as a fictional character- is from. It takes away the fun of guessing, and if I do know the refference already, I feel like they think everyone is stupid and won't know D:
