I know you know to do this anyway, but I’m saying it nonetheless: FULL VIEW! Cool? Cool.
Moving on…
I’m very, very happy with how this turned out. All four renders came out well, and despite adobe illustrator being a tad irritating, merging the 4 fractals together into one image (the title all makes sense now! =D) seems to have worked. That being said it took far too long (2-3 hours to get the fractals themselves ready, plus roughly 10 hours of pure rendering time) and because of that I doubt I’ll be doing something on this scale again anytime soon. Still, I am quite happy with the end results!
However, there are some definite areas where I could have done better. First would be composition. I am trying to work to better myself in this regard, but even with built-in guides it’s not easy. Secondly, the fractals don’t totally line up with each other. There are some scaling differences that irritate me, and the different degrees of perspective I put on each fractal seem (to me at least) detract from the piece as a whole. Lastly is the render quality. I know I say this a lot, but it happens a lot. There’s just something… lacking in the renders. I don’t know what exactly and have no clue how to fix it, but I know there’s something. That and the aliasing makes me angry!
Despite my rants and raves, I really do like the way this looks and I think it is a step forwards in terms of my art. I will be posting each of the four portions of this image over the next few days, so look forward to that. Or don’t if you don’t watch me or don’t like my art! =)
