Part of the Blood Bowl team I am throwing together. Pretty much think football except played by orcs, elves, halflings, and undead players and far more brutal (killing the opponent is perfectly viable.)
My team is a Necromantic Team with a theme of 'steampunk' and 'wolves' and is made almost entirely of parts that I already had in my bits/unpainted minis box. Necromantic is kinda like a mish-mash of horror creatures from zombies, to werewolves, to frankenstein monsters.
My players #9 to #13 are my zombies (affectionately know as my rotwolves.) Slow, stupid, they are pretty much little more than meatshields to put in front of the opponent to slow them down. They are mildly useful, but their most redeeming quality is how cheap they are. Got 4 completed, 1 half done, and the final one is still in pieces.
My original idea was to have undead wolves boosted by steam & voltic generators and armor bolted directly onto & into the body. I had some of GW's dire wolves laying around so I started cutting into them to fit the parts. Steam generators came from Privateer Press and a couple other places. The blue glowy bits are from Privateer Press and also lanterns from a local model boat shop. The cannons, made locally at a place that does wooden model boats. The shoulder pads are Milliput copies of UNE shoulder pads from the old Legions of Steel tabletop game. As far as some of the other things, I snagged about 50 Dark Angels incense censers from the bits bin of the semi-local hobby shop (the owner seemed glad to be rid of them) and have been using them as 'Soul Cages' (something from Warmachine.)
These guys are also doing double duty as bone jacks for my tourney Cryxian army (Warmachine)
