I wanted to sew something today so I made a husky-ish tail. But it ended up a lot smaller than I thought it would be...so it's a mini husky-ish tail. :3
I have no idea what I'mma use this for. I just felt like making it. ^^;

Thanks!
And sure. I'm always screwing up something on tails and they always end up uneven. T__T
And got that turquoise from CR's Craft: http://www.crscraft.com/products/pr.....searchOffset=x

Okidoke. Are you stuffing your tails tightly? Even-ness can be altered and manipluated simply by how you stuff it, believe it or not. Second, do you machine sew or hand sew? I personally do A LOT of handsewing for smaller details AND Basting. I find that basting my seams then going in with a machine helps to hold things in place while I sew on the machine. Sure, it's more time consuming, but it saves you headaches later.
Belt loops. I see soooo many fursuit builders put their elastic "dangling" like that at the top. It causes the tail to flop and dangle all over the place with the "broken tail" look. I sew my elastic to the top, and underside. Meaning that it sits flat and flush with the tail itself, no parts hanging off...it holds the tail tight to the wearer's body for extra wag and a more realistic look.
How thick is CR's fur? I think the white fur I used for Shaymus was CR's but I bought it from Whitewolf's den, so I'm not sure.

I think I stuff them too tightly maybe.
I hand sew everything since the only sewing machine I have is really old and I'm always afraid I'd break it if I used thicker fabrics with it. Then again I've never tried. ^^;
What exactly is basting? Don't know a lot of sewing terms since I don't sew a lot and I'm just teaching myself as I go along.
I thought of sewing the belt loop like that. I've seen it done that way too. But I'm terrible enough as it it is with sewing this sort of belt loop and since I've done it this way before, I just did it this way again. I'll sew my next tail (still have plenty of leftover fur to play around with) using a belt loop like that.
Eh, the fur I got for Sombra was much thicker than these. I think their "fun furs" are a bit thinner than more naturally colored furs (don't know a better way to describe them). There was a huge difference when I went to shave my Kyuubimon mask than when I did Sombra's. I had to be extremely careful with Kyuubimon and even then I nicked the fabric a couple times or shaved too strongly. I got a better hang of it as I went along but still...I don't mind buying from them since they're very reliable and their colors are usually what I need.

Yep, stuffing it too tightly will do that, especially with handsewn items. *nod*
Basting is when you sew with huge simple/sloppy stitches rather then small, neat and together stitches. It kind of acts as pins in your fabric to hold everything in place. I usually do my basting stitches (obviously depending on the item's size) about half an inch in length, a half an inch apart.
Do you have a "hook needle"? They are very usefull for sewing tight areas, and are quite handy when sewing on beltloops in that fashion! I just did one for a commission :3
I'm going to try and steer clear of CR's just because of thickness. I'm really picky when it comes to that sort of thing. XD

Ah...that's what basting is...XD
I don't have a hook needle. Maybe I should get one. ^^;
I should be pickier. But considering everything I'm making is for myself anyways I guess I don't mind for now. Plus they have all the colors and lengths that I'm looking for. Makes it easier to get them all in one place if I can. ^^;

Basting is an artisian's bestfriend! :D
You can get them in a nice combo pack at Jo Ann fabrics, I got a couple of them plus some huge needles in a pack for like three dollars. Totally worth the investment.
And when you build for yourself, it's totally different. My personal suits are usually somewhat sloppy with their seams and such, unless I have intentions of selling later. Shaymus was built as professionally as I could, because I may end up selling him later to make room for a new personal suit. *nod*
