No you're wrong. I was one. Ranger Tab is just for completing Ranger school. Anyone in any branch can go through Ranger School. Ranger tab is what you get for completing it. Getting the Ranger Scroll signifies you were in the 75th Ranger Regiment. And the guy above me is right. Tan Beret. They did change regulations back a few years to where you could wear the black. But anyone I know(including myself) Wouldn't be caught dead not wearing their Tan Beret especially if they are in the Regiment. Fuck that shit we earned it. and yeah some soldiers do wear the green beret's with Tabs on their shoulders but that's because those guys earned a higher beret which is the green one(hence the name Green Beret's. Get it right is all I'm saying
To put it simply. Guys with Ranger tabs in the field are called Rangers and given leadership positions to fit with their rank but they are mainline Army units so don't call them Operators because that's incorrect terminology. Unless you see the scroll on their shoulder they aren't Operators. If they have the 75th Ranger Regiment scroll then they are Operators. Simple enough
Sorry notice a typo in my last reply and my OCD would not let me sleep over it since I already passed the edit comment window. Anyway what I said was that I agree with you on that point. Anyone who isn't in the 75th, 82nd, 101st or anyone who is SF in the Army should have to wear a standard patrol cover when in their utilities or a cover similar to the Marines(broad brimmed hat all blacked out though in my opinion) in their Class A's and other dress uniforms
Hope you know by the way, 2500 meters is over a mile and a half. Longer than any shot made by a living active sniper. Hope you know the amount of skill that would take at that range considering any part of your target would be the size of your mil dots if not smaller than them. It'd be like shooting a damn ant and also pushing the boundaries of any modern sniper rifle save for a .50 caliber. Considering the Cheytac only chambers a .408 round at that distance over a mile away. Everything comes into play. Wind speed and direction, humidity, air pressure, bullet drop, and hell even the spin of the earth comes into effect. You're talking about a several second bullet travel time
Yeeeeeaah I was a real CoD nut when I wrote up him up. This was also well before I did my homework on the finer details like this. At this point, it just makes him look like some Gary Sue, and me a total nub. A lot of details for this character have changed considerably, and I've learned a lot since this was written up.
In fact, looking back at some of my older works and such like this makes me cringe a little bit.

To be fair a lot of the stuff you can look up is only scratching the surface. But considering there are very few researched and well done modern military characters that aren't people's sonas(like mine since Obsidian is based off of me) I'd love to see an updated version of him sometime
