Being a furry is something I don't think you need to tell everyone you meet. Just like how you don't need to tell everyone you like ketchup on pizza. If it comes up in a conversation then ya I'll tell them. Otherwise, I don't think it's that important.

I must admit that I'm a shameless furry in pretty much every way, as I'm prone to wearing a tail and kitty ears on a normal basis just for the sake of it. It's fun seeing people's reactions (which aren't always negative) to someone that clearly doesn't give a fuck what people in general think about them.

I guess that's the split off, in that crazy person number 33 decided that he needed to 'confront the furry haters', I.E. Feed the trolls or whatever else, rather than realizing that there are millions of people out there that are completely indifferent, and he's just putting on an amusing show for the ones that find his anger hilarious, while setting an example of simple minded idiocy for anyone else that comes across his ranting.

I choose self-expression, but I know it's a double edged sword. I don't pretend to represent the community, though, I'm just a random girl that enjoys being delightfully eccentric :3

I disagree with this.

For one, I do agree that obnoxious people keep furry's bad name, but I think it's the ones that must constantly talk about it as a kink even to people who don't care.

And, while I disagree with the methods of the guy in the comic, I do understand the frustration. To cut a long story short, a forum I posted at had a number of people who believed bullying people for sexual reasons, religious choices or personal preference was bad, but encouraged bullying furries "Because they are freaks" which can be used as an excuse for any religious, sexual or even entertainment preferences.

ANY person who is fanatical about something, doesnt deserve to procreate and spread the stupid. You can hate me for that view and thats fine. I am against any and all Fanatical behaviour because it makes the rest of us look bad be it being christian, muslim, jewish, gay, bi, or furry. DOESN'T MATTER.

At least we both agree then that fanatical behavior is bad, something most don't agree with. When most other groups get a free pass, but furries don't. This comic feels to me like singling out furries for special critisim like many others do rather than laughing at fantatics generally. Hence my disagreement.

Some do, kind of. Look up other kin. They are not furries, but are often associated with them.

To some, at least calm and rational people anyway, not like the guy in the comic, use the religion comparison in that it is a choice you made and a preference you have that doesn't hurt anybody else. Most people agree with freedom of religion, and picking on someone for believing what they believe, and liking what they like is fine as long as no one else gets hurt by it.

But furries seem exempt from this belief. As I meantioned above, the mainstream view is "you can do whatever like and bullying is wrong, unless you're furry in which case you deserve it, just because".

Personally I´m not a big friend of blowing it out to the World that I´m a Furry.

Everybody should make this decision on his/her own, but forcing it on others will not make people except Furries.
