What's the significance of the eye, and the text below it, and the crescent-&-ball-protrusion from the broken obelisk, and and and *hyperventilates*
There is so much going in this piece (at least to my mind- I'm sure what I got from it is likely wrong), I'm not sure where to start. I guess I'll just go with what it makes me feel and think: religion, it's sad antagonisms to each other, the historical invasions of one nation's religion into another, taking it over, co-opting it and using there temples, only to be later invaded by someone else. How sad the whole thing is, the wish to make it stop... It's because of the little symbols in the piece: the crescent could be Islam, the Eye in the Pyramid could Money (not a religion, of course, but many seem to treat it like one), the vaguely Hebraic characters on the lintel could refer to Judaism, the style of the building looks like Byzantine/Greek/etc- all areas with strong Christian influences...
Well, other than how beautiful and slightly disturbing this image is, I suppose my interpretation of it is very much a reflection of my way of thinking than what you perhaps intended. Yeah, probably reading too much into it- just the way my head-meats work. LOL >^^< *faves*
