Couldn't resist <3.
So here's my sad story...
I'm not great at them, but I can at least play a banjo and a mandolin, but we don't own either. This song could make due without those.
The real tragedy?
We own a fiddle and I can't play damn note.
Note to self: play music with
Kanvet's dad more, and ask him to teach me how to play the fiddle x3.

They're kind of a pre-WW2 folk revival stringband. It does have a little bit of a country twang to it, and I put "country" in the tags, but it's really only about as country as Bob Dylan, who actually wrote the chorus to the song ^^.
Thanks <3. I'm glad you liked it ^^.

Cool! I've only just delved into this kind of music, through Songs: Ohia and Trampled by Turtles (being from Norway I'm a little anxious about dropping out names, seeing as I'm very remote to the culture surrounding this stuff, but anyway found it absolutely ethralling). Just wanted to drop a word of acclamation, nice to see there are some musicians spanning this vein on FA! And I think you did this song some justice without the fiddle.
...okay, you just made one hell of a good first impression, my friend x3.
I've been looking for "Wait So Long" by Trampled By Turtles for a while now, and you just handed me the name <3! Feel free to drop band names any time, because if I don't recognize the name, then I WILL look them up ^^.
I love this style, and I'd love to do more of it. Bluegrass and string-band revival are beautiful and soulful styles that don't need electronics. Been working on songs with a friend of mine, and we've really been considering trying a bit of those styles ^^.
Thank you for the kind compliment <3!

Hehe, good to know! :2
As I said I'm pretty new to all this, so when it comes to the bluegrass/string band thing, the only ones I've heard that comes close to Trampled By Turtles in terms of... fervour? is The Hackensaw Boys. Yet.
I guess what I like about Trampled By Turtles is how they seem to embed a multitude of other genres in the bluegrass/string band, perfectly exampled in their covering of Tears for Fears and Pixies.
You should definately try it, do it. I for one would love to hear it. DOEET
