Great designs, but the out sized guns make them look more small gunboats instead of normal fighter intercepters.

Well I was trying some different shape and silhouttes with these; also I was somewhat influenced by the Super Valikyres in Macross with the strap gun and missle packs. In fact that has become a real sticking point doing concept design these days. Because there has now been a steady interest in Space Opera in both film,television, anime and games for over thirty years now it is getting kind tricky coming up with a design that doesn't look like somebody else's property. In fact at the time I was doing these Bablyon 5 was very popular with me and a lot of folks, so I had to work really hard to blot from my mind that weeks espisode.

Hmm....that desing looks familira. did you saw Macross aka Robotech btw? I have a ship in my Spaceshipp floder wihch looks similar, ya know.

Cool, I dig the Ju87 Kanonenvogel look and the way that, with no atmosphere, you don't need to go nuts about making the gun fit with the lifting surface.

Intriguing. The topmost and bottommost ones remind me distinctly of designs from both Heavy Metal L-Gaim and some Core Fighter variations showcased in the earlier Gundam series, specifically stuff around the Zeta and ZZ (Double Zeta) eras, as well as the work shown in Gundam Sentinel. As mecha designs in ZZ Gundam were handled by Mamoru Nagano (as were some character designs for said series), I am not surprised that they resemble things from his L-Gaim series, and thusly, to a lesser extent, Five Star Stories (Nagano's current and definitely best-known work).

I can definitely see where the Macross influence comes from in there as well, though to a bit of a lesser degree. Mayhap closer to Macross II's Valkyrie II with SAP (Super Armor Pack), which was quite the massive upgrade.
