649 Challenge: 283, 159, 091, 397, 331, 304, 617, 128
I think this is the most I have fit on one page yet....
#283 Surskit - One of the simplest Pokémon designs there is, almost as simple as Voltorb. Also Surskit is cute. It is one of those Pokémon you could get early in RSE that, if I could get one, I would not mind taking the trouble to raise. Not very powerful, and even its evolved form, Masquerain, is not impressive, but they are certainly cool.
#159 Croconaw - I think I never really appreciated Croconaw's design until now. It is fairly simple--not overly so, but more than a lot of them--and kinda cool. Also it gets a lot of attention as the second form of a starter. I still prefer Cyndaquil's line, but Totodile's is a close second, partially because it gets the kind of flexibility in the games that makes it more practical to use most of the time.
#091 Cloyster - Oddly, I wrote the number different from usual on the actual image. Anyway, Cloyster is cool, but since I have not seen much of it since first gen (really, I cannot find a darn Shellder in FireRed even when I look in the right places), I do not have much commentary.
#397 Staravia - Staravia doing something which supposedly it is good at: being intimidating. No really, Staravia is something that, if you have played Diamond/Pearl/Platinum for very long, you know, and have probably been frustrated with. It is one of the more common Pokémon where it can be found, and it always has Intimidate, so it always slows you down with that darn animation to lower your Pokémon's Attack. Not that Staravia itself is bad--in fact, its evolved form, Staraptor, handily beats most other Flying-types available early in the game--but it just gets on my nerves.
#331 Cacnea - I like Cacnea's design, but it is not really that great in the games. Ah well. So yeah... not much to say. Uh-huh. Yeah. Um... how are you?
#304 Aron - I always thought Aron was kinda cool, though it can be frustrating to raise early on. Probably I am just not crazy about slow things. Most of my commentary from Aggron applies; it becomes an absolute beast later on. Also it is supposed to eat railroad bridges so I am sure Rail hates it. XP
#617 Accelgor - The 50th Pokémon I have drawn in this challenge! Woo! Anyway, I have not gotten to use Accelgor yet, but it looks like a total beast. Statistically, anyway. Though I personally think it looks pretty neat, too. One of the new Bug-types in fifth gen that has competitive stats; it is the second-fastest non-legendary Pokémon (after Ninjask, another Bug-type) and the fastest from fifth gen, plus it has pretty good Special Attack for beating stuff up.
#128 Tauros - So about awesome Pokémon from first gen, Tauros is definitely cool and definitely strong. When it comes to Normal-types, Tauros is probably my top choice.
