are you able to use layers at all? do you see that word anywhere in your menu?

yeah i can use the layers.

ok... duplicate the bottom layer with the outline when you first open the program... select all the white and cut it out.... the paint with layers underneath it and you don't have to worry about losing the outline.

okay but i'm kinda confused when you say select all the white. Do you mean the outline or the background?

on the duplicate of the background...
it will give you a free floating outline!

yeah but i used something called the wand tool to do that.

yup... that sound exactly right....
do you see the setting called "threshhold"?
the higher the number is, the more of the grey shades on the edges it will pick up, making your outline cleaner.

it depends on your computer and your copy of the program.... but the help menu should help you find that command.
