I've gotten a nice hard case for storing and transporting my new bass guitar, which of course means I get to plaster it in stickers.  Zelandeth pointed out that between his high-quality printer and the ability to buy adhesive gloss paper, we could totally make our own custom stickers. With this in mind I decided to make a logo of sorts for the instrument.

I've decided to name my bass Arcadia, primarily in honour of a small town in Manistee County, Michigan, for a few reasons. First, that whole area of my home state is a place that has always made me feel inspired and at peace. Second, it's a port town on the coast of my favourite lake; majestic, deep and cool Lake Michigan, which felt appropriate given the deep blue colour of the bass and my love of water. And lastly, more than many of the little towns dotting the landscape up there, it just has a rather cool-sounding name.

So, I tossed together this logo to put on the case. The background is a satellite image of the town of Arcadia from Google Maps with an edge filter applied, then negatived and faded. The little dragon design in the corner is copied from the one on the shoulder strap I got for the bass.
