ACTUALLY, it depends on what school of though you use, Ohm is Hindu adopted by some sects of Buddhists in the east. I don't believe Zen, for example, uses a mantra, but this is not zen meditation, zen= eyes half open. but i digress, Ohm is a sound meaning primordial creation, a number of other mantras will be used it Hinduism it often invokes a god (ohm shiv-ia-ya namaha, the exalted name of shiva) commonly in Buddhism is "Ohm-mani-pa-da-me-hung" (hail the jewel within the lotus)
