Awww, it's great that you like them, because they're so much fun. If you have some ideas be sure to throw them my way. :D
I actually had the luxury of being able to put in some thought here as to how to make it as effective as possible. (I don't have any notable personal experience with skating or surfing.) Sure, she could score with a SUPER AWESOME bicycle kick or perhaps a flying (!) header.. but this to me is far more identifiable. She could subtly tap it in for a sure goal, but of course she'd instead strike it full force with the outside of the hoof and aim for the upper side of the goal. If it's not flashy the goal's pointless. :D
On an amusing sidenote, I was constantly reminded of the romance/football episode of the MLP DVD you sent me!

Hmm, you have? The only thing I can really recommend you give a try is having the picture be about the pose. (Character kind of comes with the quality of the dynamic between the pose and expression I think.) You can always make the picture as awesome as you tend to make it after that. In fact, I find that's enjoyable as you can see you've already got something nice while you work. :3
