Aw Spike! You done bit off more than you chew there buddeh! I have no idea what's going on here. Come up with your own idea of why Rainbow Dash is giving poor little Spike a ride for his life in the clouds.
This is the product of what I will now call a "Chimera Livestream". Everyone in the livestream picks and agrees on various elements in a picture, including who is in it and it just takes off from there. And tada! This picture happened. ^^

Rainbow dash was bored. As was Spike. Upon seeing Rainbow dash he came up with the stupid idea of jumping on the ponies back shouting, "giddy up pony."
Rainbow dash trys to fight the urge to teach him his lesson, but remembers when Spike made fun out of her. "Rainbow crash," echos through her mind. An evil grin emerges on her face, then she bolts verticaly off the ground. Within seconds Spike finds himself clinging onto Rainbow dash's maine for dear life, as they pass through the clouds. Yes That's what i imagine happend. This is awesome Casey and i am greatful i was there for the livestream.

Nono, of course not. It's just that she looks... Well really evil in this one. I mean, when she did that shadowbolt prank in Lune Ecipsed the mask and accessories she wore made her look evil. And even then her prank was a harmless scare. Here she looks ...Like someone posessed. Sorry I can't shake the feeling of that : /
Plus this is a pretty evil prank (even though the fastest mare in Equestria could probably save Spike with ease). But, please don't be offended or anything this is just my opinion. I still love the picture since it is skilfully done - actually downright amazing as I said - and it is of one of my fave characters in MLP FiM.

On a technical level I could have made her less possessed looking just to coincide with the show's depiction of the characters. I hate to play this card, but it's a style thing.. if at least for about 60% of it. The rest, sure I failed to maintain the character status quo.
But it's fine. Anyone can think whatever, I don't much care nor am I offended or anything. I was just asking cuz in my head it makes sense. I think also I have this thing about capturing a "snapshot" of a scene. It's like.. lets see how do I describe it.. In the middle of an action in a movie or even someone simply talking in a video on Youtube, pause it and look at the oddball expressions people can make at times. That's what I think of when it comes to expressions.
I think ultimately keeping the character in mind and combining it with what she's doing would add up to her giving Spike a hard time just for the fun of it. (and I think in the livestream chat, folks said he jumped on her back and said "GIDDYAP!" and so she was all "Oh reeaaaally?")

Oh! Well now it makes more sense! I can see this as a one of those snapshots as you mentioned a moment in time captured. Well yeah, I know one thing she is the kind of pony who would not let someone push her around like that.
As for the style, yep. You have changed a lot in term of style and skill and I can relate to it seeping through the usual MLP scenery.
Also, the comic changed a lot as well... I remember the first strips that I have translated, (and was even available online until the website it was on died) and how it looks now. Just wow. n .n

Hmmm, as Dash's colouration is off compared to the show I'll say that Discord has gotten out again (seriously, you would think they would store a godlike spirit of chaos somewhere more secure wouldn't you?) and messed with her mind turning Dash from a playful prankster into a positively evil one out to hurt people.
