Here is the Old Stone Church, an empty stone church that once stood on an hill above an old town. Now, it sits by a reservoir.
I took this on my first long distance motorcycle ride. I used to live in the area and rode back for the day, taking all the little back roads from town to town.
Hopefully a few more pics to follow.

Holy craps, http://willowfox.furtopia.org/photo.....sy/Church1.jpg I took a shot of that when I was 12, I didn't think it was still there, My grandfather was supposed to be part of the crew who helped move the cemetarys from that town, but backed out cuse it was a horrible n gross operation even though the pay was AWESOME.
I love your shot of it because it looks peace full and pretty.
If you go scuba diving (you would have to get permission from the town and sign a zero contaminant policy) you would see some of the old stone buildings still down there, cobble stone streets and creepy looking from what I hear.
It would be nice to get some photos of those buildings some time.
I love that place lol, It looks like they made it into a nice little area now, last time I went, it was just there kind of tucked away out of sight out of mind unless you came from over the bridge, it had a small plaque inside and lots of bird poop, a small path going to it and that was really it, it looks so much better here.

They havent *really* done all that much to it... It's still the one small path down to it, the town keeps a few trashcans there, an board with a little history and information on it about the church and town, general info about the town water and not feeding the birds, swimming, motor boating, etc.
The plaque is still there and there's still plenty of bird poop inside.
Unless you're going up or down the road over the bridge, it's still hard to see until you are there. People still have functions there ocasionally, weddings, that sort of thing. A hotdog vendor parks his van at the intersection by the bridge and there are a few benches up there. Plenty of people come for a quiet lunch, a walk or jog, or to sit and read a book.
I miss it now that I've moved away, it was a very pretty place, and quiet and peaceful.
I don't remember now if it was a book, or television program, or article in the newspaper, but there's quite the interesting history to the area. I don't blame your grandfather any either, I don't think I would have stuck around to dig up graves!
It would be fascinating to see pictures from the bottom, though after all this time and the muddy nature of it all, I wonder how much you could still see.
Thanks for the compliments on the photo, the fave, and the trip down memory lane. : )
