Flight School is back in session over in my Equestrian dreamscape. After a less than sterling first day http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7159689/ I did make some progress over the next few days, and by the fourth day I was actually making progressively longer and longer glides from my perch on top of Sweet Apple Acres.
Rainbow Dash eventually apologized for having forcefully ejecting me off the platform the first time, and I was starting to gain some understanding and feeling for this thing called flight. However I was still being overwhelmed at times by all the subtle little things that make the difference between a wonderful flight and another round of Sky Brush plowing some more of Sweet Apple Acres with my face. Or in this case pile-driving some unsuspecting apple tree a like an out of control Equine Exocet! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exocet
A little twist of my flight feathers here. Flexing my tail just so. Reading the wind and knowing what the right amount of lift feels like. Learning how to guess my airspeed and altitude. Of even greater importance has been gaining an understanding for the magic that regular pegasus use instinctively to gain the necessary lift and thrust to fly. It is this magic that allows a Pegasus generates more horsepower, pun intended, than just their muscles and wings can account for. When it works and everything clicks I feel this subtle tingling in my wings and suddenly it feels as if someone has hit the the nitrous oxide button in my wings. Of course right now it is not always going off when I want it to. I am pretty certain this magic is why pegasus can obtain some of the top speeds they do and can achieve the spectacular rocket pack like rates of climb and hover with such ease. Also with sufficient skill it permits pegasus to perform certain aerobatic maneuvers that birds just can not do.
Rainbow Dash is somewhat appalled that I just didn't possess this instinctive knowledge that young pegasus foals are born with, but her student Brick, her nickname for me, is so clueless of ! Good thing ponies seem to recover quickly from boo-boos!

Heal please.
Ouch again.
I'm thinking that even the most fumble-winged pegasus foal isn't having the problems you are. And that there's no flying rehabilitation program in Equestria for ponies that need to re-learn how to fly for some reason. (Hm, maybe a record of your efforts and results could be the basis for one.)

Rainbow seems to think that way. I really want to figure out how to fly soon because if I don't I fear that Dashie is going to start drinking hard after every session. Fortunately progress is being made.

It's sounding more and more as if flying (like plenty of physical and social skills) is best learned while young. There's something about a young mind's learning capacity that exceeds anything available to those older.
...unless Twilight has a spell to accelerate learning physical skills...

I remember waking up to Applejack poking me with a stick and yelling at Rainbow. "No! He is still alive!"
Always good words to hear, especially when they're about you.
What they saw was something inappropriate for young fillies and colts to watch.
And now I can see the Cutie Mark Crusaders telling all their friends about your efforts at flight, so they can all come and watch the free show.

The name Sky Brush fits you very well since it suggests your special talent is skywriting, or possibly drawing in the air (which would be awesome if your drawing style there is the same awesome one as it is here). If this is true, I expect Dash to be very much shocked once she sees what you're capable of doing
Is it really fair for Rainbow Dash to expect you to perform well when you don't even have the benefit of the standard instincts hardwired into each pegasus? After all, you are normally a biped, not an aboreal quadroped. Even in your Andur and other dreamscapes, you're a biped. This is so different you might as well have tentacles.
I don't think anyone has ever accused Rainbow Dash of being fair. She has her interests, and the rest of the universe just isn't awesome enough for her.
And she had enough problems with the idea that the unicorn was now a pegasus. Explaining humans, or 'normal' upright furries to her would be fraught with frustration.

Congratulations on another appearance on Ponibooru! (No, not Equestria Daily, but I kind of expect this one to show up as the last one did.)

I suspect that was not the only facehoof she did during your training. xD
Anyhow, question time.
I think it's fair to assume that you have not had any particular training in flying in real life, and highly likely do not have an education that includes "flying with wings" as even a theoretical course, primarily because there are probably very few educations that do. (Maybe a few biology fields that deal with birds and similar).
So that makes me wonder... How do your subconsciousness know what to do? I mean, Rainbow Dash here is a product of your subconsciousness, and as such cannot know things you don't; how does she know what factors are involved in flying when you don't?
Or do you just make up something that sounds reasonable?
And if the last option; what if someone came and told you (while awake) that you had forgotten a factor, or one of them were irrelevant... Would that impact the dream-state? And how?
Of course, all of those are general questions; if doesn't have to be about flying in particular; it could be swimming as a fish, controlling more than four limbs at once, having two consciousnesses, making delicious hamburgers, anything you don't know how to do. Assuming you don't know how to make burgers, of course.

Hmmm. Good question. You are correct that I have no formal, or informal, training in flapping my arms and flying, but I have a strong interest in both bird watching, paleontology, and aviation. I built and designed my own flying models for a several years and competed in model competitions while growing up. Also while I am not a pilot I would like to get a license someday even if it is just in glider. So I would say that my subconscious is rifling through my memories of what I do know, or think I know, about flight and is putting together scenarios and dialogue that sounds plausible. This is where I think my subconscious was having trying trouble for a while when it needed to incorporate magic into the equation to make everything work. Real world knowledge and fantasy were colliding and the outcome was me colliding with things. A lot!

Yes, people can sometime influence events in my dream. There have been cases where friends of mine who will appear in my dreams, sometimes on a regular basis, will tell me bits of advice when they hear my latest dream and give me their two cents on what they might have actually done had they been there. Or what I should've done. If I have a dream again with them again their dream avatar will often advise about their plan of actions, or their avatar might remind me again that I don't want to cut the red wire this time. Cut the blue wire instead. If they do not show up again but the situation involves the information they conveyed to me I'll remember it. If that doesn't work another character in the dream, usually Petina, will often remind me of this information. If Petina is not there physically there she'll leave me a note, make a phone call, send an e-mail or text, or just remind some other character to tell me what I need to know. Although this sometimes confuses the other character quite a bit.

Ah! You actually DID have enough interest in flying/birdwatching and similar for it to be more than just a little realistic. The likelyhood of it happening is pretty small, I'd wager. (as in, the likelyhood of you being interested in hte one field I chose to ask you about is about 1 to X, where X is the total number of fields I could have asked you about.)
Anyhow, can I conclude that your subconsciousness will attempt to use a natural explanation whenever possible?
Also, have you ever experienced that someone in your dreams try to educate you about something you don't know anything about consciously?
Like, for example, if Twi tried to teach you how the sun works; assuming you haven't had a course in astrophysics, you probably don't know very much about the sun. For that matter, the physicists that work with it don't even know it all yet. (It's near impossible to observer the inner sun, so we are forced to take guesses based on it's surface). That means you CAN'T know how it works. Would Twi still be able to teach you anything meaningful? Or even better, could Celestia tell you how the sun works? After all, she should know that.

Oooo. Now that is a tricky one. Let me explain. Since I was a little kid I have had a intense fascination with the world in general and read a fairly eclectic mixture of topics both non-fiction and fiction. I have been a avid watcher of programs like Nova, Nature, Connections, The Day the Universe Changed, and assorted National Geographic Specials. I also go to websites like Livescience.com, Space.com on a routine basis.
The problem I see is that when I am dreaming and some character starts giving some explanation to a topic that I have no conscious memory of I am not completely certain that this is information is truly something new, or is my subconscious once again rummaging around and locating some nugget of data that has been residing in some corner brain since that field trip I took in the 3rd grade. From what I have read the brain apparently has apparently an amazing capacity for storage even if our conscious ability to retrieve the data it is sometimes shaky at best.
That being said Applejack has talked at length, great length sometimes, about growing, harvesting, and selling apples. My family has never owned any apple trees and I have only a little gardening experience so that is the one thing I think of immediately that might be "original" data off the top of my head.
I want to take this moment to thank you for interest in my art and dream related material. I always find your questions to be intelligent and thought provoking.

Ah, ehm, thanks xD *Embarrased*
You're quite welcome ^^ It is quite interesting for me to learn about too, so I'm always looking forward to when I see your replies in my inbox xD
These pics and the replies to my questions are actually pretty much the only thing I go here for nowadays. xD

Lets see now.... You've been flambéd repeatedly: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6798316/ , full on blown up: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6889618/ , kicked off a roof-top platform: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7159689/ , and now tree'd (if that is even a word ) to the face.
By my checklist, that means you should now be able to register "Heal please!" as your personal catchphrase/motto while in Equestria
How often do you have these sorts of dreams? Just curious, as I've been starting to have similar sort of dreams myself of late.

Unless I am under a great deal of stress, I will have dreams like this three times a week. Sometimes every night. Also I will sometimes jump from one dreamscape to another. Example would be going from Equestria to my oldest dreamscape Andur http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4816484/ in the same evening . Also congratulations on having lucid dreams.
