I have a book that I use only for commissions of my character, and whenever I get a new pic done (especially if it's someone I've never worked with before), I give a few points between the various renditions but mostly just let the artist work it out for themselves.
Sure some of them aren't accurate, but the fun is in seeing how other artists interpret my character.
