Who will win this game I wonder? I can only think that the eating is the win. This delightful cheery chess game cake is from the kitchens of

Happy birthday to Ryusukanku's brother.
My brother was one of the few kids who actually knew how to play chess from an early age. While hardly a genius at it he was pretty good and while growing up could always beat me in a game. So I brought this up again by making a chessboard on the cake with Licorice All-Sorts as the white squares and a chess set I got at the buck store (and washed vigourously) before gluing them down with icing.
All in all I think it turned out rather well.
Recipe
1 rectangular or square cake of your choice
Enough chocoale icing to cover cake
Extra icing to stick the pieces in place
Sufficient Licorice All-Sorts to make 32 squares with the white sections
One set of well washed Chess Pieces (can be made from dark and white chocolate if you have a chess set mold)
