This is a rough thumbnail for a piece I hope to finish by the end of the year. I've gotten something of reputation as a "girls with guns" artist, and have been asked to do some obscure stuff. This is one I decided to do and it is probably the most off-the-wall one to date. It is of a 1915 Vilar-Perosa, and it represents an idea for an LMG that by itself was a failure. But just a few tweaks would make an ok SMG.

Yeah it is a strange one! Very Italian for the period. It was a time when armys were trying to come to grips with what all this automatic firepower could do. In the case of the 1915 Vilar it originally had 12, no not typo, 12 man crew to serve a glorified submachine gun! As the WWI progress they started to use it much more reasonable sized squad, but the gunshield for it still weighed more than the gun itself!
