In the distance I hear
Something that seems so far from here
Too far to decipher
Yet, I hear it, coming even closer
It sounds chaotic
The sounds of what may be is nearly toxic
Is it screaming I hear?
Is that the evil ringing that pierces my ear?
I find myself in a sand scorched land
Giving me the need to guard face with my hand
What have I awakened too?
I act as if war is something that is new.
The screams of innocence rang
The blasts of destructive mortars sang
I put my helmet back on
For it is just the war’s dawn
The gun’s fire continued their clacking
And the brass shells have never stopped dancing
The enemy advancing fast
The time of my brothers in arms is short to last
No time to look at my mistakes
For the enemy will not hit their brakes
Today will be the end
For my adversary, who continues to contend
Something that seems so far from here
Too far to decipher
Yet, I hear it, coming even closer
It sounds chaotic
The sounds of what may be is nearly toxic
Is it screaming I hear?
Is that the evil ringing that pierces my ear?
I find myself in a sand scorched land
Giving me the need to guard face with my hand
What have I awakened too?
I act as if war is something that is new.
The screams of innocence rang
The blasts of destructive mortars sang
I put my helmet back on
For it is just the war’s dawn
The gun’s fire continued their clacking
And the brass shells have never stopped dancing
The enemy advancing fast
The time of my brothers in arms is short to last
No time to look at my mistakes
For the enemy will not hit their brakes
Today will be the end
For my adversary, who continues to contend
