Hmm, probably a winner in the unorthodox pet category. These showed up in a lot of Haven Federation apartment complexes that had a ban on "conventional" pet ownership. (That is, nonsentient cats/dogs/rodents/reptiles/etc.)

This was only good for the Haven Federation construction industry for obvious reasons, and the catball became an increasingly obscure housepet due to lack of housing insurance policies that covered inflatable-related damage.
