Years ago, I read about a small airplane (a Piper Cub, I think) that took off by itself. The engine was running, it was chocked, no one was inside it; a gust of wind managed to lift it over the chocks, revved the engine, and away it went! It flew for an hour or so before it crashed. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
