A few have asked about this meerfox I know; this is he. This is part of a much larger image of him posing with his ship: a very powerful and compact "port guardian".
He is a member of an elite (although well populated) devision of the military which contracts with municipal forces to ensure the security of large cargo and passenger liners coming to dock at the surface. This includes guarding ferries to the orbiting spaceports. There is little this kat can't handle.
The collar is a beefier than usual life functions monitor often issued to pilots who find themselves outperforming pirates and terrorists. The tag is a flexible display of that information just incase. Pilots on atmosphere-only dispatches often opt just to wear their flight gear for ease (and the fur). Hence his only wearing what he jokingly calls his "action pants".
His mother was a meerkat and his father was a red fox - go figure. Next summer if I make a new fursuit, it will be this fellow. I'd use foam for the head.

That hasn't been an issue for centuries. Most pilots still prefer to have their inertial diffusers turned down a bit so as to feel the direction of flight however. Sometimes this can make the craft vibrate on high-g turns. A kind of shudder that rattles the plastic in older craft (feels nostalgic about the sound). The best pilots can avoid this altogether.
