I had posted this up earlier on my site as partial filler but then realized since I didn't archive it on the site, I should probably post it somewhere. Many thanks to ze Ducky for letting me goof about with his characters.
At some point I likely will attempt to sit down and actually watch a couple games and try to decide on a hockey team to root for. My Canadian street cred requires it. :U

Yes...stay away from the U.S.
I don't blame you
Sadly, I can't get out because of the military.
I hope someone is praying for my sorry...oops...got carried
away, I apologize.
-Laughs-
But seriously, I can't think of a better place at this point
when it comes to the US's economy...ugh...even the military
has its breaking points.

Funny ... the banks weren't complaining while the money was coming in ...
(If the banks really were so "forced," then why didn't they lobby for its repeal or modification in 2001-2004, when such a repeal would've easily passed both houses and been signed by the President? Let's also not forget that the CRA was passed into law in 1977, revised several times since, and never caused a problem ... until Glass-Stiegel was allowed to expire.
BTW - I used to write software on Wall St. (nigh-literally). Spoke to a few quants, who said that they (and their models) saw that there was somthing wrong a few years before the crash. When they raised this with the Senior Sales Traders, they were told, "F!$# You and your models - we're making money hand over fist.")

My hate for the Canucks knows no bounds.
While the reason for why they're not in my favour is explainable, what cannot be explained rationally is the degree to which I hate them.
I hate them with the intensity of a thousand suns.
Were it within my power, I would smite them like the fist of an angry god.
May they never achieve anything of note so long as the NHL exists.

Might I suggest the Senators, from Ottawa, if you are in that area. They're just as failtastic as the leafs, but far more entertaining about it. :D
Personally, I like the 'nuks and jets and flames, but that's on the other side of that huge and glorious mass of land where you are now located.

I laughed so hard when I saw this on your site the other day. I love the two panels of the leaf girl wagging her tail and looking so happy. And then comes the "Concentrated fail" comment. Between that and the last panel, I laughed for a good while.
And congrats Amber on now being a full fledged Canadian. I will have to add you to the list of my favorite Canuckleheads.

My suggestion? Pick a real fail team, and keep with 'em. That way, when they -finally- rise to glory, you can tell people, "I liked 'em back when they sucked!"
... it's how I am with the Tampa Bay Lightning. :D ... they're sucking again this season! Time to gather more fans!

The usual Eastern Canadian winter weather storms outside in the chilly night, just barely held
at bay by the blazing wood stove and the creaking house. The solar panels will need cleaning
tomorrow.
The mildly-bummed-out kitten sucks on some hot chocolate--it's not working tonight--and
taps the computer on and reaches for the mouse (the plastic one, not a real... never mind). The
dial-up modem howls for a moment.
If the phone line doesn't get creamed by a tree again, something to lift the spirits.
Yes, must be something out there on the Interwebnet-thing...

Might be a 'come-from-away' (as we say in this part of CanuckLand), but oh yah, if you
can do that then you are one of us. Merci, et bienvenue au Canada.

As an American and a self-proclaimed hockey expert, I recommend you join me in rooting for the Calgary Flames because we are just awesome and have the most respectful fans in all of Canada (along with the Toronto fans). Plus, we're not in a slump of the same magnitude as Toronto lol (last cup in 1989). Cheer with me! Go Flames go!!! X3
As a Calgarian, may I suggest you don't become a fan of Calgary or Edmonton. Having worked at Calgary's Home Ice for three years, I can safely warn you it appears to be a law with heavy penalties for neglecting that you become a rabid, flaming idiot and a disgrace to your new country every time the two square off, or anytime the other team is mentioned.
After seeing this: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-p.....163133543.html and then looking back at this, I must ask one question. Are all female Maple Leaf fans so amply blessed?
Much as I like Janice and live to Toronto and think it would be great if the leafs one another cup...... They aren't very good... For a long time... XD
I'm from Ottawa originally... So yeah I'll stick to supporting the Senators since there overall record in the time I've been alive is much better. XD

Yaknow, you could always support the Klondikes.

Not much famous about the team, but the fact that they had the Nuggets to go from Dawson City, Yukon, all the way down to Ottawa, Via Dogsled.
Sure they lost their first and second game against the Ottawa folks, But, Having lost their only official hockey player due to being an election official, and having played their games only two days after they arrived in town after a One month long arduous journey, I think they deserve some credit?
heck they even scored a couple goals!
