Name:Iroa (from the word "Iora", the Irish word for squirrel.)
Age:15
Description:As her name would suggest, Iroa is all the energy and joyous hyperactivity squirrels are usually associated with packed into the body of a darling, fifteen year old girl. While she can be ditzy and lacking in common sense at times (often missing the point to anything her friends say), she is surprisingly intelligent. She is always asking questions or investigating and learning about things that interest her. Her current obsession involves sightings of the mythical African monster, the Joka Jani (which means "Dragon Leaf" in Swahili), and she is determined to prove it's real, no matter how many times her peers claim otherwise.
---
This is the first character in a story idea I have known as "Daft Rabbit", in which five high-school children are given their class rings, only to be transformed into animals upon slipping them on. It is revealed that they were specifically chosen to fight a monster destroying the city (much to everyone's surprise, the Joka Jani is indeed real), that has been kept out of public knowledge. Along with the monster, they have also been chosen to fight the original members of the "Daft Rabbit" project. The original students had the option of choosing the animal they'd be turned into (rather than the current set, who are transformed into the animal they are most like), and ended up succumbing to insanity as a result. Though the group is shocked and appalled (except for Iroa, who is actually excited), they eventually come to terms and accept their responsibility. But, the are horribly inexperienced, and continue training to defeat these foes.
As for the history, the "Daft Rabbit" project was created by Iroa's father, Bayrel, as he was researching ways of combining human DNA with those of other creatures for various purposes (ranging anywhere from protection from disease to breeding super-soldiers). The project was named "Daft Rabbit", after Bayrel's eccentric personality and for the fact he attempted to have his first experiment (which he conducted on himself) turn him into a rabbit, only to have it fail and turn him into a squirrel (i.e. the animal he's most like). He was later "encouraged" by the government to supply these to new test subjects in hopes of using them as weapons to destroy the Joka Jani.
Well, hope you like it. Upcoming characters include...
Conin, Leon, Lune, Gazzly, Foiche, Lann, CROW, Joka Jani.
