He did well! A few more trips and I'm sure he'll get the hang of it. :-3
Still hates the leash and choke collar though. LOL
I'll be moving into a house soon where I will be training him everyday to get him ready for placement. :-D
What a handsome boy!

Ah ha!!!! YES!! :-D
You are totally correct! The malamute and mastiff are his saving grace! He is calm and mellow. I agree with you, he will be a wonderful pup...with a little leash training.
Malamute is ideal, my first wolf dogs were 83% Wolf and 17% Malamute, they were smart and mellow. No problems, no chewing issues, no fighting, just perfect. :-3
Nice to meet you. *paw shakes*

I don't want to risk loosing him (it took me almost 5 hours to catch him last time and if I left him in Joshua Tree, I'm sure he would have dehydrated and died by the time I could find him). ;-P
I can definitely use his regular collar in a fenced in yard while I train him. Hehe, I couldn't give you a dog that won't walk on a leash. ;-P
Once he's trained and you take him, you sorta need to re-train him with you. Wolf dogs have a very hard time re-adjusting, that is their worst trait, so I am going to put him through many situations out of his comfort zone.

I will test him, I'm sure he's fine with small dogs, I'll see. Do you have a cat, how fond are you of it? I wouldn't want you to put him in the pound if he accidentally kills a smelly cat. ;-P
Anyhoo, I will test him with a cat too, but FYI, it's a lot easier when they are puppies and they grow up with the cat. Sometimes it's impossible to rid them of that instinct and you would have to watch him. :-/
I suggest to really isolate yourself with him for a while, away from other animals, other people, and allow you to bond with him. I can't stress enough that it takes wolf dogs time to re-adjust. He is also getting closer to that age where he will have a strong urge to find a mate, this urge is 5 times greater in wolf dogs, and he needs to find that mate in you. Do not let him seek out another dog for a mate because he will be very indifferent towards you, they have a strong will to choose only one mate. He is about 10 months and they normally finish their adolescense at 18 months.
Once he adjusts with you and bonds, let him spend time with others, and then assert an Alpha on him. Do not let him be top Alpha, you assume Alpha female, and make it clear that he is to assist you and shaun. Once the 18 month mark comes around, he will know his place as a close Beta. Don't be surprized he will constantly challenge Shaun as Alpha male, just be firm and commanding it is not nice to growl at Shaun, jump on him, walk through doors first, eat, or command Shaun to do something. THis goes for you too.
Wolf dogs need leadership and ranking more than any other canine.

We don't have a cat, but his mom has Chihuahuas. xD
Alright, thanks for the advice! x3 I know I can be too easy on dogs when I need to be more firm... but then again, I haven't been able to train my own dog since Chi Chi (Corgi/Chihuahua mix), so I haven't had the chance in a while. D: And I know he'll be much more stubborn, so I have to be, too. I gotta be alpha, like you said. And Shane, too. Shane is good at being an alpha already, so I know he can do it. :3

Even these guys, with the mastiff and malamute are a HUGE challenge. They are much easier when young, adults are such a pain in the ass.
I wish I was at my mom's more often, because there are only 5 that respect me as an Alpha, the rest see me as an outsider and are very suspicious of anything I do.
It takes months of constant training and re-inforcement to bring them to a suitable level of control, even then they will constantly challenge leadership.
