This is a painting that a co-worker commissioned for a friend's birthday. I almost turned her down -- because she wanted a horse in it and I royally suck at horses. They always turn out like really tall dogs for some reason. However, one of my New Year's resolutions was to try to challenge myself by trying something new.

So I gave it a go.

I think it came out all right. I was lucky to find some really good reference photos and I had a friend do a 'paint-over' to help me with equine dimensions. It should be interesting to see what my co-worker thinks of it.
