Some detail shots of the red-tailed hawk large custom "gumdrop" figurine. He measures around 7cm long, 4cm high, and 2.5cm wide.
I did not fully appreciate the wide range of color variations that occur within red-tailed hawks until doing the research for this commission. This guy's rather middle-of-the-road in terms of white/rust markings.
His toes are a bit bigger/thicker and his talons are stubbier than is technically accurate. This was necessary in order to balance and stabilize the figurine.
Super Sculpy clay with acrylic paints. He's not yet varnished, but I'll probably be using matte varnish on him.
