Today, in less than 9 hours, will mark the one year anniversary of my dog's death. The dog I'm talking about is the one in my featured section. I actually drew this on the day she died, but I could never finish it, until recenty. It was too painful to even draw this, and the original line art is damp from the tears I shed while drawing it up. But I had to do it, and as a tribute to her, I decided to submit it on her first year anniversary. I drew her as an angel in heaven. The rainbow behind her is the rainbow bridge that leads into heaven. In Japanese myth, it is believed that when you die and make your way to heaven, all the dogs you ever owned in your life will be waiting for you at the foot of the rainbow bridge so that they can enter heaven with you. I don't know if it's true, but I really love this belief and honnor it because it's such a beautiful and comforting belief to know that she, and in a few years Shadie my other German Shepherd, will be waiting for me when my time comes. ^_^
