Treatise on the Void - Coatl Backstory
Well, here we go.
Some narrative and exposition as to what Coatl is. Also introduces a somewhat new character which may, or may not show up in more stories and RPs..
I have to thank
Urulai a lot for this, since he is the guy who came up with this Dei Aznia idea originally and he also compared Coatl to them.
Also, oooh boy is Ahriman a generic name.. any resemblence to already existing characters is purely coincidental.
Anyway, let's not delay here's the story!

The large, green scaled hand closed around a staple of papers and lifted it up. Then a low chuckle, followed by a cough echoed through the crowded room. Papers, books, various arcane looking machines of diverse function littered the ground, tables and shelves alike. The room was pretty much a chaotic mess.
"Treatise on the Void, Chapter 6, Uses and Dangers of the Void."
A short pause followed, then shuffling of paper and another chuckle.
"Do you have all chapters labeled like that? Are you afraid someone might forget what they are reading? Tsk, tsk, tsk. Anyway, let's see what you got here."
More paper was shuffled and wood creaked audibly.
"Following the discovery that the void is indeed a plane which exists between the other planes of existence and it's various dimensions we also determined that time and space have no meaning inside the void. Everything that ever was, is and will be exists at the same time and the same point. The observers own perception shapes what he may see. However due to the complete lack of these so important concepts it is almost impossible for a untrained mortal to see anything at all in the void as his brain simply lacks the capability of processing the seen. However, as proven by the insane Augur of Sterochia and the Chronicles of Videra, it is possible to traverse this non-space as a effective method of travel, shortening trip of miles into mere seconds and even allowing visits to the past and future."
A short pause and a approving grunt followed.
"Though it should be pointed out that the Void is still a dangerous enviroment and does in no forms support life as we know it, infact it is actively hostile towards it. Should a traveler ever lose his goal he will get lost between time and space and become easy prey for those beings that dwell between realities."
A chuckle followed.
"Now it get's interesting... Ahem. These beings, also called Void Spawn, are a complete opposite of the physical plane, infact our mere presence there does cause them great discomfort, as such every encounter with them will be a hostile one. Mmhmm.. very true... However the Void Spawn do not pose the greatest threat, as they are mere fragments of beings far greater and more powerful, they call themselve the Dei Aznia, the Void Gods. And Gods they are for it is by their toleration that the physical plane can exist at all. Even the power of the Stars pale in comparsion to theirs, so they struck a bargain, the Stars could create the physical plane to rule over and the Dei Aznia would use them as breeding grounds for their kin. My research did not unveil how these beings were created before however."
A longer break followed, and only the rustling of scales rubbing over scales broke the silence.
"That's a question that will remain unanswered, since the actual act of becoming a Dei Aznia is such fundamentaly different that they can be considered a completely new entity, only very few actually remember what made them so. And those are generaly the younger ones which were born from the physical realm, so good luck with that. Anyway, where was I? Ahh yes. The Void Gods exhibit a general disinterest in the physical plane however, even entire galaxies are little more than little grains of sand to them. However the pyhsical plane does also provide them with food as they bond with a universe which causes their power to seep into this plane, resuling in what we witness as entropy, the slow death of everything. Some of them still do interact with our plane however, to what end is unknown."
A deep chuckle followed.
"Well, I just love to mess with you mortals. Ahem. And even when they take a physical form, their power is so overwhelming that it warps and destroys reality around them. They do this without ill intent though, as they just don't understand that their presence can cause harm. Well, I beg to differ there. Some of us, who actually show some interest in you little ants do learn to restrain ourselves. Or do you see the sorroundings dying and shriveling?"
A muffled grunt answered him.
"See?"
Some paper shuffeling followed.
"But even considering all of these dangers that lurk between the planes, only a ignorant fool would outright disregard the possibilities the Void offers. Blah, blah, blah."
The scaled hand let go off the papers which fell on the table, only adding to the mess that was already present. A loud thud followed as the behemoth stood up from the chair, which had bent and cracked under it's weight. Six golden glowing eyes examined the blue robed shape of a blue scaled dragon, which was suspended in mid air. Held in place by swirling rings of purple energy around wrists and ankles. The draconic head's lips had grown together to prevent him from speaking. A large, meaty paw stroked over his chest, the other three were clenched as fists.
"You know Ahriman.. you are quite close to describing what the void is. You could have used more metaphors too, I heard it makes it easier to think of it as a ceaseless desert and raging sandstorm, a desert that is harsh and uncaring. Seemingly cruel and inconsiderate to both the creatures that dwell there and the rocks that make its jagged peaks. It's perfect entropy, chaos and spontaneity. And we are just fragments of it given consciousness, just as chaotic and spontan..."
The green monster chuckled, it's thick and incredibly long tail swished through the room, however it just passed through furniture and obstacles alike as if it were only a illusion.
"Your little physical plane is the exact opposite, so much order and causality."
He picked up a crystal orb and let it fall again, it shattered audibly as it crashed into the ground, which made the restrained dragon wince.
"Heh.. you understand that you are just as alien to us, as we are to you. And just like you I have a particular.. fondness for strange new things. You could say I'm a collector."
The big dragon like creature chuckled, the sound resonating through it's massive chest.
"What fascinates me are those little.. patterns in this physical realm. For example each dimension seems to have it's own Ahriman. And there are only minor differences, one likes orange, rather than blue, another is a human instead of a dragon. But they all do the same, trying to pierce the veil which better stays closed..."
A short break followed in which the four armed behemoth seemed to muse. Ahrimans eyes meanwhile went wide and he shook his head, he seemed to have pieced together what the other being seemed to imply.
"Oh yes, I do have a collection of.. yous. And you are going to be the newest addition to it. You see, our control of entropy is so strong that we can slow and even halt it. I will keep you in pristine condition."
He snickered and waved a hand, the dragons mouth reappearing as the lips tore open again, causing the dragon to scream in agony.
"And now is the time you will beg to Coatl not to take you."
He let out a sinister laugh while the blue dragon struggled against his bindings. Ahrimans eyes darted through the room while his mouth opened and closed without a sound coming from it.
"Let me serve you!"
The blue dragon nearly yelled at him. Causing Coatl to raise a brow.
"Well, dozens have said that before you too. But you were by far the quickest. I think... I think I will agree to it.. this time. If only to alleviate me of my boredom."
Coatl waved a hand and the energy shackles disappeared. With a cry of surprise and a loud thud the dragon wizard hit the floor. The green behemoth towered above him, easily thrice his size.
"I will send you through time and space to retrieve artifacts and other... interesting items. I leave it up to you how you do this, but make no mistake, you are mine and I will find you should you try to bail out. Your free time is measured on how much you entertain me, so I advise against lingering too much."
Ahriman shook his head and rubbed over his temples.
"Wait.. this is going too fast, what if I-"
The dragon was cut short as a tear in reality opened behind him, a strange and distant land waiting behind it.
"Off you go!"
Coatl exclaimed and pushed the blue dragon through it.
