I've been speedpainting to try and trim down on time I spend noodling about with paintings and economizing my time. Eventually I'm going to convert all my commission pricing to by the hour speedpaints like this one, where you pay based on the amount of time I'll spend on the image rather than based on a style, because depending on the content of an image those flat rates based on style really don't work.
This took a little under three hours from sketch to completion. I'm hoping to get to this level of quality/detail in two hours so that three hours affords more refinement, but we'll see how much I can push.

The sky uses just the right hues of purple and blue and the gryphon looks just sublime!!

Oh my Nature, the gorgeous colors! Seriously, perspective and the thin line between modesty and overly critical... You see others who "show more detail", I see genius level abilities. To many, you are the artist that they are striving to be. You did something in under three hours that dazzles me spectacularly. I said it once, I'll say it again... Thank you for sharing your genius with us. I hope you don't mind if i use it as a phone background...
Aw man, these gryphons are so cool. It's really interesting seeing some slightly more unusual bird species getting a bit of love. And this one's a shrike, too! You combined the build of a shrike and a slightly pudgy cat really nicely...
...though I can't help wondering just how brutal a fully grown shrike gryphon would be in battle. D: Butcher-gryphon.
