A character from the interactive short story "When Forts Fall" at the Imagiscape Group. The winner of that interactive story, Coltores (FA) /Dragons-knight-fire (DA), liked the character so much that he agreed to adopt him! So as a reward for winning the story, I created this ref artwork of the character.

(The skeleton isn't entirely accurate, but I think it's pretty clear that he's a skeleton.)

Personality: talks like a gentleman but acts crude and compassionless because he's a corpse and doesn't care about manners or etiquette anymore; mischievous, sarcastic in a dark and creepy serious way, bossy, cold and aggressive even to friends but always loyal, often flies into fits of controlled rage to assert authority or fight in battle; fights in a manic but calculated way, always in the company of his hoard.

Alive, he was an unremarkable soldier who served the lord of a certain fort. That lord fell ill and ordered all of his servants and soldiers cursed and buried alive with his corpse, to protect him for all eternity. That day, the unremarkable soldier tossed away all aspects of his previous life, including his name, and became Grimsone, the ambitious undead warrior. Over the years, Grimsone fulfilled his duties to protect the fort and its masters, while also fighting his way to the top of the undead army at the fort. He succeeded on both accounts, and when S'karn Drea'eth, the fort's most recent master, was threatened by an invading army, Grimsone rose again with his undead kin to fight ("When Forts Fall"). After a long and difficult struggle, the fort was lost, but S'karn was so grateful for what Grimsone and his army had done that he freed them from their service. Now Grimsone wanders the land, seeking new undead kin for his hoard and a new place to call home.

Without his armor and clothes, which change often depending on how damaged he gets or what he salvages, Grimsone looks like a plain skeleton from an unidentified animal-human. His skull resembles something canine and he has quadruped legs, but no tail. Some say that his dull red coloration comes from the blood stains of his enemies, but more than likely it was just a fluke that happens to some skeletal warriors when they come back to life. The inside of his skull is filled with an unnatural darkness, pierced only by his odd, white, glowing eyes. Observers can sort of tell what he's thinking by how bright his eyes are, but since he has no muscle or flesh, he always looks like he's grinning.

If he takes too big of a hit, he could break or fall apart, so he uses fancy footwork to evade and his favorite weapon, an axe, to block incoming attacks. He also has the bizarre ability to "sink" into the ground and mysteriously pop up from the ground in another location, an ability common to most undead creatures in Imagiscape. Grimsone also possesses minor dark powers, allowing him to devour the life force or life energy of living creatures (or other living dead creatures) to heal himself, but he only uses this ability on individuals he doesn't know or doesn't like. If Grimsone does fall apart or lose a piece, his bones will magically float together again and reattach.
