they flood my thoughts
swirling, turning, one after the other
so long ago....
i still remember

things were so much happier then
i saw the world in shades of pink and blue
the sun was bright
the clouds were marshmallows
friends were forever
boys didnt matter
family was infallible
and pain was a scraped knee

so much has changed
friends, family, love, pain, sorrow, joy
such a myriad of experiences
the world isnt all bright colors and sunshine anymore
family has become a curse rather than a blessing
friendships have long since flown away

these memories
they hurt
what ive lost
what ive become

...please take them away...
