Here is one of 3 new jobs I got lined up for the month. here is the start of a new foam base. needs allot of slimming down I know.
But I thought i'd try and make a base out of one block instead of parts like I usually do.
so first attempt at block carving, first attempt with an electric knife!
Having tons of fun with the new tools I have an hopefully this means bigger better things coming onto this gallery of mine. :)

If you are looking for new tools to play with...
Get straight razors instead of an electric knife for detail work. they work amazingly well, and can give you a better detail, and whole new feel for the foam carving.
You can also use a rotatory tool (like a Dremel) with a sanding disk to smooth out rough edges, anf get into tight spaces.
I have used heat knifes, and other things like that in the past. you need to do it in a well ventilated area with a good cartage respirator, but it can make cutting a breeze.

One last thing you can do is add a layer of fabric to cover your foam before you fur. It't a reall easy way to smooth out edges on the foam, and make the fur bond better to the head.

Wow thank you so much! I'll test out the dremel idea too. I already have all the parts you described. I only use it for making eyes and cutting my horns to size!
I will most likely not try the heat knife because it looks insane and pretty damn scary. Are they always home made things or can they be bought?
Thank you ever so much for taking the time to give me some tips! It's much appreciated! :D

Hey, no problem.
Take a look through my scraps if you are ever looking for tools and ideas. I like to post my creations round the shop.
You can buy heat knifes if you want. I found the one I made worked better for some things that the store model could not offer me. Though it is a good tool to have around.
Harbor Freight tools has them ready to go on the shelf everyday. they are about 20 bucks.
