Only look back for a seconds time
Let the past stay upon your back
Like the suns dissipating clearing rays
No longer can your memories attack
Even in the darkest depths
Where doubts and sorrow wait
With just a firm and confident step
Their poisonous holds you can abate
People can be deceiving
Their actions so louder than words
But you can turn away
Forgetting the pain you have not heard
Not always easy is your path
But you can find the way
Sculpting a better future
Welcoming a better day
Long and unknown the journey is
Though you know one thing for sure
Taking the lessons you wield at your side
Future pains you can better endure
One step closer everyday
To the desired life
Better circumstances and better hearts
Lead you to forget your strife
Only look back for a seconds time
No longer must you linger
You will control your future now
Emotions wrapped around your finger
keep them hidden, shrouded away
as much as you can bare
only revealing them upon the day
you meet those who truly care.

This is easily one of my favorite pieces I’ve managed to do via commission, I had admittedly been avoiding it for awhile due to the fact I was fearful I couldn’t do Redlioxs concept justice, mostly due to the background. I HATE doing backgrounds, I’m rarely happy with any I’ve managed because I can never seem to get them to look seamless with the feature characters. I think the worst of it is I KNOW I can do better than what I sometimes put out, I just struggle a lot with the brushes. I got very lucky this time around however, and I hope Red likes it as much as I do, I’m really proud of this one.
I’d like to thank Red especially for helping to inspire this, and being a truly wonderful friend despite my sometimes lacking ability to be as good a friend too sometimes, thank you for brining this out of me.
Thanks just because to Simba, who continuously threatens to smack me upside the head if I keep saying ‘I’m not really talented, my art is terrible’, I love you.

That makes my hand hurt just looking at it. Pretty! The work put into the background really paid off, not just the detail, but the lighting and atmosphere of the sunset. Plus kudos for softening the linework and coloring on Red to make him fit with the background.

Thank you Boz! Once again I find my faith in your art, both talent and spirit, are well-earned and well-deserved. I know this was a tricky piece to do, and the first time I asked for a background to go with the character. In some ways, this turned out different than I expected but in a good way and still following my commission to the letter.
For example, I half-expected my character to come out shirtless...but the outfit actually looks great, fits the scene better, and more realistic. The jacket still gives the impression that my shoulders are broad and strong. I actually look like more of a stud with the clothes on! I have a strong urge to go shopping for a getup like this....
The background looks beautiful, a tribute to Oregon. I had been favoring a seaside setting, but I remember pointing out a lovely path in a coastal park named "The Devil's Punchbowl" and I definetely see the ressemblance. You used a softer touch on rendering the background I see, which contrasts with the sharpness of the character but I kind of like it. It makes me think of artists who are renowned for using soft, indistinct styles to landscape paintings. I think the distinction between character and setting emphacise another message I was aiming to establish: me starting to disassociate myself with the area and moving on.
My face shows more strength than I expected, but one can see my fursona's mind is still lingering. As I explained to you Boz, I have been dealing with many problems that have torn my heart to weaping. However bit by bit I have steeled myself and made hard decisions. You established that well for my fursona.
The wait on this was worth it, and your poem for the piece very inspirational. Both will definetely help me in the near future and the choices to be made.
Boz: This picture is just amazing. Every piece of it. I'm not going to gush like a fanboy for an hour, but you really did a great job. I also like how the mane kinda looks like a full beard (minus the stache) at a glance. :P
RedLiox: If you don't already sport a beard, grow one that looks like your mane looks in this. I think it suits you purrrfectly (Obvious liox joke and serious point).
