So after having spent.. somewhere between 16 and 32 hours in total on this project (possibly even more, I lost track of time), I am pleased to announce that this helicopter's finally done...
Hurray! After several years of hiatus, I picked up my old hobby again and started building models again. This is the first. I have yet to see what comes next, but I've had my eyes on the ISS (international space station) and Space Shuttle Atlantis, both on 1:144. We'll see..
For now, I present to you a reasonably succesful built of the AH-64D Apache Longbow. It has some bits that aren't as nicely put together as I'd like, but this is a common problem with building these things: it's like Ikea. They present you a manual, tell you what to do, but on the actual model there's no such thing. Like inserting piece A using the little knob inside piece B. There is no knob. There is no piece B. It barely fits together at some points! Gah!
But I guess that's all part of the challenge.

Looks very nice from what I can tell. I do enjoy building models but I agree sometimes the instructions are just too vague to really make much sense of.
Currently one of my favorites that I made was of a McDonnell F9F Panther in recon config for the Korean war. I managed to get the glossy navy blue paint looking just right on mine even though I screwed up the canopy (a paint I was using reacted with the plastic and fogged it up. I modified the kit then to make it look like a plane in storage with a cover over the canopy to protect it.
