I didn't want this to be hate art. I wanted the person's words not to be 'tainted' by some exaggerated version of them. So, instead I depicted the person as a pretty little flower.
Surely something they'll appreciate.
(Short story: Female artist enters contest for anime con mascot. Winning mascot is a tough looking female character as opposed to a feminine shoujo-style one. Female artist (formerly on my friends list) proceeds to gripe in her journal about the fact they 'constantly pick fucking carpet munching girls as their mascot.')

I've expressed this before, I love me some lesbians. I also have nothing wrong with tough looking women. I may not personally wish to bone said women, but said women would probably not want to bone me. The balance is maintained.
Seriously tho, people just outta do what makes them happy.

Ever have one of those old friends you watch for nostalgia's sake?
I mean, she was slightly annoying in the past. She considered herself superior to most anime fans because she only watched what was new and popular in Japan and felt all dubs were inferior.
This was... uh, yeah. This was new.

Hahaha... I don't know what to say.
Although, I'm a tomboy. But I smash cities. And I look girly when I crush people to death and eat their livestock.
Seriously, that is odd that the anime crowd is turning away from the bishoujo look. Man, I've been away from the fandom too long or something...

Here's the winner:

It should be noted that had her opinion been based on art quality and not subject matter, I may have been inclined to agree that this was not better than some of the finalists.

THIS is much more butch. http://www.angelfire.com/anime2/sai.....s/Uranus01.jpg
This is pretty close to the usual blathering I hear from a lot of gay "men men" types who can't stand girly boys, and use the classic line: "You don't have to justify being attracted to men by acting like a female, so just fucking stop it!"
So, to me, I think your flower friend there sounds pretty butch and manly, ironically. She prolly just wants to be the "man" in her own little lesbian fantasies...and she doesn't want the competition. *wink*

Well, if she's gonna hammer out adherence to gender stereotypes, I'm just gonna infer stupid things about her based on those. You know, cause I'm a bitch. ; )
I'm personally not much of a subscriber to rigid gender stereotypes and boundaries (Durr, really?). I like being excessively cutesy-foo-foo girly, but I'm a guy. My tastes, and how I enjoy expressing myself, doesn't line up with my physical sex at all, but...that doesn't tend to stop me. ; )
"Masculine" and "Feminine" are such a dynamic, varied thing to begin with, and as males or females I think we shouldn't have to jam ourselves into the expected gender stereotypes that traditionally go along with our physical sex.
Plus, I've always felt like people who push real hard for that rigidity are likely trying more so to convince THEMSELVES of it, so...it makes ya wonder...

But I thought women were TRYING to get away from conforming to old stereotypes :/ I mean, I can see how someone might be offended by the opposite, like, a reverse-stereotype is almost as bad as the ultra feminine to some activists, but at the same time people have to start somewhere if women are trying to get outta the rut of "I'm just a body that's pretty to look at and that's all I'll ever strive to be." If women can't try out non-traditional forms of beauty, what can they do? So for the context of the drawings, it sounds great that the person chose the "manlier" one.
