It was a normal day at the PCA… meaning organized chaos. Between classes the school halls had become turbulent rapids of students trying to get places, get stuff from their lockers, or just standing around talking with their friends. It was here among the pushing, shoving, orchestra of mixed voices one sawsbuck girl struggled to push through the tide and keep from hyperventilating.
Ashley Damadamon stumbled and whimpered as she tried to get through the crowd. The huge amazon of a deer girl barely made any headway as the other students pushed and shoved. She’d been at the PCA for a while now and was starting to get used to it… but still could barely stand the crowds. It was the foremost battle academy anywhere so she could understand why everyone who could go here would but it was still far, far too many people for her.
She had never liked crowds, or unfamiliar people, or social situations… it was a long list to be honest and being cramped in this hallway was setting off most of it. She whimpered softly as she tried to get through. The sheer number of people felt like they were crushing her, suffocating her. All her instincts told her to run away and hide but she could barely move without running into somebody. Breathing hard and trying not to panic she managed to push through the crowd into a mostly empty side hall.
She Collapsed against a wall for a moment as she tried to catch her breath, trembling like a leaf (oddly appropriate being a grass type) as she tried to steady her nerves. Most days she was able to deal with this, barely, but every now and then it just… got to her. Finally able to stop trembling she turned and looked down the side hallway. She didn’t know where it went but at this point anything was better than going back into the crowd. Sighing softly she hung her head and started to walk down it.
She didn’t MEAN to be so cowardly… she just… couldn’t handle so many people around her. It was different when she had Andrew with her. It sounded weird but the small pichu felt like he could shield her from her own fears with his small, soft body and infinitely sweet and kind personality. He’d been there to try and help her since she first arrived in Viridian and she felt like he was a dear, dear little brother. Maybe if she was lucky she could find him later and he could help talk her through her little… freak out.
As she rounded another corner the sounds of the hustle and bustle of the main hall same back into focus. She sighed and braced herself to brave that surge of people again… just as another sound made her long elegant ears twitch.
BANG
“Chu!!”
She would recognize that squeak anywhere… but the bang had sounded like something hitting against the lockers… oh no. Ashley broke into a sprint the moment that thought crossed her mind and her hooves slid on the polished floors as she rounded the corner to see the main hallway at the end of the corridor… and a drillburr holding Andrew pinned against some lockers not ten feet from her. She stared for a moment, taking in the details. The drillburr looked about 16, was slightly rotund, and was trying way too hard to wear the punk rocker look. He had the arrogant sneer of somebody picking on someone they knew couldn’t fight back as he held Andrew against the lockers with one claw. Andrew meanwhile had a few shallow cuts and bruises from, at least Ashley guessed, the ground type smacking him around with his claws as he kicked at his captor, cheeks sparking helplessly against the ground type as he struggled.
Ashley’s brain barely had time to process this before she had cleared the gap between her and the bully. Her leg snapped out like a whip kicking the drillburr’s hand away from Andrew. Without bothering to slow down or pause she pulled her leg back and launched it into the ground types chest with a side kick knocking him back and flat on his ass. Turning on her heels she knelt down to Andrew who was looking at her with a stunned, wide eyed expression as she gently sat him up and started to check him over.
“What tha hell!!?”
She didn’t even bother looking up from checking Andrew’s injuries, she knew it was the drillburr talking. “Who tha FUCK do you think you are!?” he snarled as she heard him getting up “Getting in the way of my fun, ya stupid bitch!!” she heard him come at her and turning on her heels as she stood she brought her foot clean into the side of his head with one smooth motion sending him sprawling again. She wasn’t seeing red right now, oh no. She was so furious her vision had gone to a harsh black and white.
The drillburr struggled to his feet as she marched over to him. She usually never fought up close. Every time she was in the arena she used Leech Seed and simply evaded her opponent until they dropped. This wasn’t like most times. The ground swung his claw at her awkwardly and she met it with another kick before bending her leg at the knee and snapping it out at him repeatedly. Left cheek, chest, right shoulder, right side, nose, she snapped out at him with her leg till she couldn’t keep it up and keep her balance anymore… then she brought it down but brought her other knee up hard into the drillburr knocking him flat again.
She’d never had any formal training in how to kick to be honest. She’d only learned Double Kick to help her jumping and running speed. As a sawsbuck she had naturally strong legs and her training and constant running had only made them stronger. This meant her kicks, though unrefined, HURT. The dillburr struggled back to his feet trying to glare hate at her but it looked like he was seeing triple. He let out a strangled battle cry as he charged at her, claws flailing. Ashley met each one and knocked it away with a fluid kick before turning sharply on her heels and nailing her attacker with a spinning kick to the chest sending him tumbling into a groaning heap a good eight feet away from her.
She slowly lowered her leg, taking a deep breath to clear her head… as the sound of cheering and voices finally reached her. Slowly turning around she stared wide-eyed at a large crowd of people gathered to watch her deliver the righteous beatdown to the bully. She went pale as she looked at all the people looking at her cheering congratulations, wolf whistles, and battle challenges. Her brain went into panic mode. She scooped Andrew up, the pichu was still shell shocked from what he’d just seen, and fled down the hall faster then she’d ever run away before cradling Andrew to her for comfort.
In the back of her panicked mind she could only pray this would blow over soon.

Nice kicks by the way, Ashley. This is a friend that'll help with getting them better. (hand her a card) Now let's get him to the nurse's office.
